Photo Inauguration des Vedettes Caennaises

The Caennaises Vedettes are now open!

On Wednesday 8 April at 11am, the official inauguration of Les Vedettes Caennaises took place, marking the launch of this new tourism offering between Caen and the sea.

The event brought together many local figures, partners and stakeholders who came to celebrate this new activity together, offering a fresh perspective on our beautiful region.

An inauguration in the presence of local stakeholders

The ceremony began with speeches from:

  • Manuel LE ROUX, President of CCI Caen Normandie
  • Hervé LEBEL, President of the Caen la Mer Tourist Office and Convention Bureau
  • Romain BAIL, Mayor of Ouistreham
  • Nicolas ESCACH, Deputy Mayor representing Aristide OLIVIER, Mayor of Caen
  • Jean-Léonce DUPONT, President of the Calvados Departmental Council

These speeches highlighted the importance of the project for the region, both in terms of tourism and economic development, as well as its contribution to showcasing the canal, the heritage and the coastal landscapes.

The naming ceremony of the vessels

A highlight of the inauguration, the boats were officially named in the presence of their three godmothers:

  • Justine LEMETEYER, Foil Slalom World Champion, godmother of the Courlis
  • Claudine MAGUET, Coach, Les Conquérantes Group, Sport and Health Commission of the Departmental Canoe Kayak Committee, godmother of the Calix
  • Kristell KEROUREDAN, Captain, Brittany Ferries, godmother of the Riva-Bella

A new way to discover the region

With Les Vedettes Caennaises, residents and visitors can now enjoy a new experience to explore the region in a different way, combining heritage, nature and a gateway to the coast.
