Photo Inauguration des Vedettes Caennaises

The Caennaises Vedettes are now open!

On Wednesday 8 April at 11am, the official inauguration of Les Vedettes Caennaises marked the launch of this new tourism offering linking Caen and the sea.

The event brought together local figures, partners and stakeholders, who gathered to celebrate the new activity and the fresh perspective it offers on our beautiful region

The ceremony opened with speeches from:

  • Manuel LE ROUX, President of CCI Caen Normandie
  • Hervé LEBEL, President of the Caen la mer Tourist Office and Convention Bureau
  • Romain BAIL, Mayor of Ouistreham
  • Nicolas ESCACH, Deputy Mayor, representing Aristide OLIVIER, Mayor of Caen
  • Jean-Léonce DUPONT, President of the Calvados Departmental Council

Together, the speakers underlined the importance of the project for the region – for tourism and economic development alike – and its role in showcasing the canal, its heritage and the coastal landscapes.

Boat naming ceremony

A key highlight of the day, the boats were officially named in the presence of their three godmothers for the official ceremony:

  • Justine LEMETEYER, Foil Slalom World Champion, godmother of the Courlis
  • Claudine MAGUET, Coach with Les Conquérantes Group and member of the Sport and Health Commission of the Departmental Canoe Kayak Committee, godmother of the Calix
  • Kristell KEROUREDAN, Captain, Brittany Ferries, godmother of the Riva-Bella

A new way to discover the region

With Les Vedettes Caennaises, local residents and visitors alike can now explore the region in a different way, combining heritage, nature and a gateway to the coast.
